Discernment at Lake Magdalene UMC

Conversations about disaffiliation have captured the narrative in the United Methodist Church in the past year. Many churches within our denomination will make a decision about whether to stay in the UMC or disaffiliate. Many of us have heard stories from friends and family about what has happened in other churches. We know the challenges of this conversation. Our heart is for this conversation at Lake Magdalene UMC to be prayerful, holy, and respectful. We will continue to update this page as we learn more about this process and situation.

Church-Wide Vote on New Denomination Affiliation

Sunday, June 11, 2023 | Sanctuary | 10:40 AM (between morning worship services)

All church members are invited to attend a 10-minute gathering on June 11th at 10:40 AM in the Sanctuary. The purpose of this gathering is to vote on the Church Board’s recommendation to join the new Methodist denomination, the Global Methodist Church. A simple majority of all present is needed for the recommendation to pass. If approved, the change would not go into effect until after the disaffiliation process is complete on September 1, 2023.
